The Young Musicians Institute’s Parent Chat provides an opportunity for parents to talk with leading music educators and professional musicians about how to support a young music student’s musical studies, including tips for motivating a child to practice, managing at-home practice time, navigating continued study if a child is interested in pursuing a career in music and more. The panelists will field questions from the parents and offer their advice gained from decades of experience.

Moderated by Armand Hall, conductor, clarinetist and Gateways Director of Programs, the panel includes Lucinda Ali-Landing, Gateways Orchestra and Chicago Sinfonietta violinist and founder of the Hyde Park Suzuki Institute in Chicago, and Herbert Smith, Gateways Orchestra and Rochester Philharmonic trumpet player.
